Mother's Day 2023 & Matthew Dedication

Mother's Day was such a wonderful day! We had family in town and dedicated Matthew at church. We had a laid back brunch back at our home afterwards and played outside with cousins for hours. Robert even skipped his nap. He had such a blast! Rob and I got to spend time with both our sweet Moms...it was just a really nice day.

We are so grateful for our church family. Matthew was dedicated with six other baby boys who we pray will be dear friends one day. All of their parents have already become sweet friends to both Rob and I. Three of the families are currently in our small group. We are excited to see these boys grow up together!

Parker, Joel, Riser, Matthew, Mark, and Dalton. Love these boys (and their Mamas!)

Auntie Ashleigh and Auntie Jessie came into town, which was so fun! Chris, Katie and fam came over for brunch and we loved that Lauren and her family could join us too.

Robert played in Auntie Katie and Uncle Chris's car for quite some time. He loves sitting in the front seat and "driving". The sunglasses were a cute touch- thanks Katie!

Sweet Matty had a great day!

7 months with Matty!

Seven sweet months with our happy, chunky Matty!

His personality is really starting to come out and we just can't get enough of him. We wouldn't mind if he slept more at night but overall he is the happiest little dude.  He is starting to sit up on his own, however he really shines in the rolling department.

Things I have learned this month: don't leave folded laundry on the floor, Matty will attempt to pull down curtains, he loves a good mirror, eating his toes, and that stacking cups are simply the best.

He loves fruit and pizza crust! He does not love avocado. And has questions about wafers.

He loves all of Robert's toys which is teaching Robert a tough (but important) lesson in sharing. The phrases "mine!" and "want it!" are heard often around our house. We also hear Robert saying "what's Matthew doing?" and "I love you Matthew" which really is the sweetest thing. Looking forward to seeing them play together as Matthew continues to grow. He loves watching Robert. Robert makes him smile and laugh a lot.

Robert insisted on putting his sunglasses on Matthew.

Matthew loves Dada's hoodie strings.

This picture is actually from Matthew's sixth month doctor's check up. It was a bit after he turned 6 months. Weighed 18 lbs. 9 oz, 27.75 inches long- same as Robert (well Robert was 28 inches but that is still so close!)

Me and my sweet boy! He is always such a champ about being in the carrying most afternoons after nap. This gives me the hands I need to play/walk with Robert outside while also being with Matty.

April Recap 2023

We had a fun April! We were blessed with some really beautiful weather this month, which meant lots of good outdoor time. We even had to bring out the sunscreen.

The boys and I went to CW a lot with friends. Robert had a blast playing in the creek.

I feel so lucky that we can walk to the Greenspring Trail from our house. Robert has loved playing on "the mountain". One day we randomly ran into friends (friends who feel like family) Lauren, Bonnie and Riser. It was a fun surprise!

We went over to Mamie and Papa's house for a fun afternoon of playing outside. Robert really enjoyed playing with their water table. Matty was happier than ever just to sit and enjoy the sun with his pacifier.

After naps we usually try and go to our neighborhood playground or play around in our cul-de-sac! Most Tuesday afternoons Papa, Tripp and Ben come over and play with Robert. Robert still loves to swing at the playground but he also has gotten really into climbing. He always tries to keep up with Tripp and Ben.

Check out Robert's new smile :)

The boys and I went flower shopping with my mom. Afterwards Robert was a great helper with planting our new flowers around the mailbox. We enjoyed a Chickfila lunch out too!

Robert helping Daddy mow the lawn. He's so sweet and was really excited to help Rob.

The boys and I went to the Williamsburg Airport twice this month. Once we went with our MOPS group and another day my mom was able to join too. We have been really lucky the past two times we've gone and been able to see TONS of planes taking off and landing.

Robert waving to the planes.

It was much sunnier than I expected, so Mamie kindly let Robert borrow her baseball hat.

This picture makes me laugh.

Clapping with excitement!

Robert got to "drive" Papa's car. He was so happy about playing in the front seat.

One rainy afternoon we moved our car out of the garage and all sat and watched the rain for a bit. We ended up playing in the garage almost the whole afternoon. It was fun!

Rob and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary with a date night in with delicious steaks. It was the perfect low key night for us. We had a date night out planned for the following Friday but Robert came down with the stomach bug so we ended up cancelling. It all worked out in the end with us ordering take out and staying in our sweats, which is honestly perfect for the stage we're in right now.

Robert this month... had his first ever lollipop, first juice box and first apple (not cut up). He did lots of artwork and was very excited to hang any and all art on the fridge. He likes to feed his stuffed animals and still loves all things cars. He got a new part of shoes from a friend and although they are a size too big he loves them. We are playing a lot of hide and seek around the house. He loves to hide behind the chair in our family room but the funny thing is that he can't get back there on his own so we have to put him there and then go count and then "find" him. He gets so giddy when we find him and it cracks me up every time. He loves his Papa Bear and Bear Bear. We went to the Virginia Living Museum this month and Robert has started to smile with the sweetest, funniest and most intense nose scrunch ever.

Matty is our water baby. He loves taking a bath each night with Robert.

Just some random photos from the month!
