October 2021 Recap

This October has been an awesome month! It has felt really long probably because we were able to fit in a lot of fun things and also see a lot of family. I absolutely love this time of year and really enjoyed being outside with Robert as much as possible.

Robert and I went to his first pumpkin patch at Holly Fork Farm with a group of MOPS friends. We did a hayride, saw the farm animals and picked out a few pumpkins to bring home to Dada. It was a fun day out!

I love being able to see my parents spontaneously! One day this month I was itching to get out of the house, so I called my Mom and Dad to see if they wanted to meet Robert and I in Colonial Williamsburg to enjoy the fall weather on the Palace Green. Both Robert and I were all smiles the entire time.

Soccer!! Rob, Robert and I got to see almost all 7 of the Williamsburg cousins play soccer this month. Super fun getting to see them play!

Will coaches for Tripp and Ben's team. This is the first time Uncle Will held Robert. We couldn't believe it but yep, it was true!

Robert and I had an awesome day trip to visit Auntie Ashleigh in Richmond. We sat out in Maymount Park and enjoyed the weather while eating delcious bagels, drinking coffee and then splitting a beer. It was really nice catching up with Ashleigh. I got to hear about her job, her trip to the beach and discussing her and Rob's upcoming plans to bike the Capital Trial together.

Ashleigh and Rob biked the Capital Trial! Rob did the entire 100 miles. He left around 5:30am and rode to Richmond where Ashleigh met him for the return ride back to Williamsburg. Chris and Katie surprised them at about mile marker 3 with cheering and then Chris joined in for the last trek to Billsburg. Ashleigh stayed the night with us in Williamsburg. We enjoyed going to Aleworks Brewery and watching football on Sunday. Robert loved sucking on his first chicken wing bone- like father, like son.

Robert's first (of many, I know) injuries! While I was watching him- literally had my eyes on him- a framed poster fell on his head. I'd like to pretend that I was calm and cool about the whole thing but I cried and was a total worry wart the rest of the day. I took these pictures after he woke up from his next nap. He was his happy self the rest of the day! There wasn't even a bruise the next morning. Still, it hurt my heart to see him upset & hurt.

Rob and I did our first hand & foot art craft with Robert. It was a bit messy but overall we had fun! Rob was a good sport about helping me load up Robert's sweet feet and hands with paint. Next time, we may not need to use so much, haha

Aunt Caroline, her friend Bob, Gaby and Papa Laser came to visit Williamsburg for a few days! We met for a picnic lunch on W&M's campus, enjoyed delcious homemade pizza by Katie at Chris & Katie's house Friday night and simply enjoyed time together. It was a wonderful visit!

Some sweet photos of Rob and Robert's nightly routine of reading bedtime books together.

Robert and Mama selfies this month. He currently loves to crawl over to the dishwasher and look at his reflection. I just had to try and capture it.

A few videos from this month...

Halloween 2021

The year of the great (costume) debate. The year of the dinosaur vs. the pumpkin.

Now right off the bat, you can't tell me that you don't laugh- out- loud when you see Robert's face expression (cuteness) while wearing the pumpkin! It was hilarious! So before moving forward I must say that the winner of most laughs produced was clearly the pumpkin costume. Photo evidence both above and below, however the verdict for overall winner we'll save for later! 😉

On Friday of Halloween weekend Robert and I went to Matthew Whaley's Halloween Parade to see Charlie and Tripp walk with their classes in costume. We got to see Aunt Julie, Ben, Mamie and Papa too. Since the great debate had settled on the dinosaur being Robert's actual trick or treating costume I decided to give the pumpkin a try at the parade. Robert was clearly THRILLED to be a pumpkin.

On Saturday night Rob and I got to attend our neighbor's Halloween Party! Robert's baby monitor reaches our neighbor's back deck, so we were able to enjoy a few hours with our neighbors eating good food and all dressing up in costume. Rob and I went as Squints and Wendy Peffercorn from the movie The Sandlot. We had a BLAST! We are super grateful for our cul-de-sac and really love our neighbors!

Sunday was Halloween! Rob and I took Robert to our neighborhood parade up at the clubhouse. It was super chill and ended up being just a parade around the inside of the tennis courts but we still had fun seeing friends and letting Robert swing in his dinosaur costume afterwards.

Rob pushing our little dinosaur in the parade.

Our friend's Alison and Shawn's daughter Eloise (doctor in training) with Robert.

Fun on the playground after the parade. Robert's favorite activity is still swinging. He's still not quite sure about the slide.

That night we took Robert for his first time trick or treating! We went with our friends Alison and Shawn and their two daughters Olivia and Eloise. They live in our neighborhood a few streets over. I met Alison while out walking with Robert this summer.

Robert's first house trick or treating. Olivia was incredibly sweet to Robert and was always putting extra candy into his little bag.

The inspiration for Robert's costume came from his favorite book currently, "If I Were a Dinosaur". Rob and I chuckle because it's a very simple book but Robert loves it because each page has a different texture he can touch.

Some final pictures of the overall costume winner... the dinosaur! Robert loved being a dinosaur! He liked crawling in it, sitting in it, rolling in it, swinging in it and he wore it off and on the whole weekend! RAWR!

But I'll leave this right here for one last solid laugh! 🤣

And wait... whose this cute little pumpkin?? 😀
